Protecting Your Privacy
Community Key is committed to providing you with the highest level of customer service which includes protecting the privacy of your personal information. This policy sets out the way we handle your information including its use and disclosure, and how you can access your personal information.
This policy only applies to our databases and files and does not cover any State, Territory or Commonwealth Government database or file. You are advised to contact the relevant government agency for a copy of their privacy policy.
Personal Information
To provide you with employment and related services, we may need to collect personal information such as:
- name, age, address, telephone number/s
- career information and previous employment history
- education, qualifications, licences, transportation
- your jobseeker identification number
Any personal information we collect or receive will be used solely for the purpose of providing you with employment and associated services. Employment and related services includes services to employers, upskilling agencies, and profiling for employment.
We may also collect personal information from third parties such as:
- your previous employer/s
- any referees given by you
- other service providers
We collect personal information by fair and lawful means and not in an unreasonably intrusive manner. If you choose not to provide personal information, we may not be able to provide you with the services you require, or the level of service on which we pride ourselves.
Access and Correction
You may be entitled to access your personal information held by us; however you will need to provide proof of identity to do so. You may also be required to fill out a request form. We take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. We encourage you to assist us by letting us know of any changes to your details; and where possible, we will correct that information.
Whenever it is lawful or practicable, you have the option of not identifying yourself when dealing with us; however, due to the nature of the services being provided to you this will be in very limited cases.
Use and Disclosure
The information we request from you is used to establish your eligibility for services offered by Community Key. Your response will assist us to provide you with appropriate services. We use our best efforts to ensure that the information you provide to us remains private and is used only for the purposes you agree to.
We do not reveal, disclose, sell, distribute, rent, licence, share or pass your personal information on to a third party, other than under the circumstances outlined herein. We will not divulge sensitive information to a third party without your consent.
Occasionally we may need to disclose your personal information to third parties such as:
- employers
- other service providers
We do not use or disclose your personal information for the purposes of direct marketing of unrelated products or services.
We use and disclose your personal information to provide you with the employment and associated services specified to you at the point of collection, or for another purpose if:
- we reasonably believe that the use is necessary to lessen or prevent a serious and imminent threat to an individual's life or health;
- the use and disclosure is specifically required or authorised by law; or

the use and disclosure is reasonably necessary for the enforcement of the criminal law, a law imposing a pecuniary penalty, or for the protection of the public revenue
Data Quality & Security
We are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and we take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We ensure this by having such security measures as:
- Individual password access to systems and databases
- secure offices and patrolled premises
At the end of the provision of services to you we will follow guidelines consistent with the Privacy Act in terms of handling/destroying your archived information.
Sensitive Information
For the purpose of providing you with employment services we may receive from a third party, or may collect or receive from you, sensitive information e.g.; personal information revealing your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions or membership, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade-union membership, or details of health, disability, sexual or criminal activity.
Resolving Privacy Concerns
You are encouraged to raise any concerns you may have regarding our privacy policy and practices by discussing your concerns with any of our staff.
